Message from the Coaches/Silvers Meet
Hello Tribe Families,
First, I want to congratulate the team on the win vs Lake Forest, our local rivals and friends from across the highway! It was a fun swim meet and the kids were great both in the water and outside the water. Between the win and the BBQ later in the day, it was brought to my attention by one of our younger swimmers that it was a two ice cream day. Being a Lake Shawnee swimmer is not so bad!
Now on to some news and dates:
-Registration for the Silvers Championship meet is open, and through the app the swimmer can register for whichever events they would like to swim. If their time is too fast for Silvers, the app will not allow them to enter that event. If that is the case, they will have an opportunity to swim that event at Trials. So please get on the app as soon as you can and choose your events. Any questions please reach out.
-We try to keep two fun traditions going with the swim team, and that's the lake swim and a night of water polo. We are going to aim for playing water polo on Wednesday the 22nd in the evening and will start around 6:30. Younger ones can bring life jackets, noodles or any type of float they wish to use.
As for the Lake swim, where the swimmers swim from 3rd beach to 1st beach, we are going to aim for holding the swim on Monday the 27th during morning practice time. We will meet at first beach at 8:30am with the goal of getting up to 3rd beach for 9:00 to start the swim. Again little ones can bring some type of flotation device if they wish. The lake swim is also a day where we need parent volunteers out on the lake in kayaks and paddle boards to help watch the swimmers, so please consider helping. And every year we have one or two parents who choose to swim with their child which is great also.
Thanks everyone, and looking forward to a great second half to the season.
Go Tribe,
Coach Jamie
