You're going to hate my begging for volunteers by the endo of the month, but we know you're all going to miss these long and goofy emails when I'm gone, we also know 

That said... we need volunteers.

Please take a look at SwimTopia and sign up for one of our open jobs. We currently need help with:

• Setup and cleanup

• Timers

• 1 Marshal

• 1 Finish Judge

• 1 Starter

To be a Starter, you must attend the officials clinic at Roxbury on 6/20.

To be a Finish Judge, requirements include having at least five fingers on one hand and the ability to count to eight (we do provide pencils and paper to help with that).

Timers can usually get by with two fingers and a thumb,  which is enough to hold, start, and stop a stopwatch.   Timers must be 16 or older, so if you know a student looking for volunteer hours, a neighbor you're willing to bribe with pizza money or a non-swimmer child you can voluntold into lending a hand we are happy to have them.

Anyone interested in attending the officials clinic or learning more about becoming an official can reach out to myself or any of the others on the subcommittee: Adriana, Amy, Chang, or Kira.

I'll be at the kickoff and practices next week and am happy to walk anyone through any volunteer position, answer questions, explain responsibilities or reassure you that none of these jobs are nearly as scary as they sound.

We also have several food donation items listed in SwimTopia for the snack shack. If volunteering isn't your thing, perhaps your true calling is donating a giant box of Goldfish, chips, or whatever magical fuel keeps swimmers, coaches, and parents functioning through a summer meet.

As is always the case, if we don't have volunteers, we don't have swim meets. If we don't have swim meets, we end up with a large group of cranky, disappointed kids and no swim team activities to keep them occupied for the summer.

For the sake of the children... and perhaps even more importantly, for the sanity of the parents... please consider signing up.
